Overview of Corfu

Landscaped by rugged mountain ranges, lush greenery and spectacular shorelines, Corfu is arguably the most famous island in the Ionian complex.

For many years, Corfu’s natural beauty, stunning beaches and a vibrant nightlife have made it one of the most sought-after destinations in the Mediterranean. This sophisticated island attracts thousands of visitors every year, yet despite its popularity, the island has remained relatively untouched, and its beauty has not suffered from over-development.

The climate in Corfu is warm and pleasant, with temperatures averaging around high-20s to early-30s over the summer months. You can enjoy the beautiful weather in one of our villas in Corfu that is available to rent.

Corfu and Surrounding Areas

The magnificent old own with its unique design and quiet, narrow roads is the biggest preserved medieval town in Greece and is without doubt, worth a visit. So be sure to add a visit to the old town of Corfu to your itinerary.

For those seeking relaxation and tranquillity, there are many unspoilt villages, secluded coves and off-the-beaten-track tavernas just waiting to be visited. With vast options for entertainment, candlelit restaurants, romantic bars and nightclubs covering all tastes and styles, Corfu certainly caters for all.

Like many of the Greek islands, Corfu has historical architecture including the Temple of Artemis, the Greek Goddess of hunting. The temple can be found in the Analipsi Hill, Kardaki. You can also visit the Gardiki Castle, which was built in the 13th-century by Despotate of Epirus. The castle defended Corfu before the Venetian era and is the only surviving fortress.

Corfu has numerous museums to visit including the Archaeological Museum, the Philharmonic Society of Corfu, all worth visiting.

The island is also blessed with stunning beaches and surrounded by the exotic waters, which is perfect if you wanted to sit back and relax with the warm sun shining over you.

Traditional Foods

Greece and the surrounding islands are also known for their delicious foods and welcoming hospitality. So, make sure you stop off at a local restaurant to sample some the famous Greek dishes including a traditional Meze, Dolma (stuffed vine leaves), Souvlaki (grilled meat on skewers), Stifado (beef stew), Moussaka (potato or aubergine layers with mince – similar to lasagne) and Pastitsio (Greek lasagne).

For a meal that is quick yet comforting, we highly recommend grabbing yourself a Gyro – a pita filled with roasted meat, fries, fresh salad and tzatziki, a traditional Greek mint yoghurt dip.

Corfu has its only speciality dishes to try, including Sofrito – veal cooked in a wine sauce with garlic and white pepper.

All produce in Corfu is fresh and from local sources, including fish. So, during your visit, you must sample a delicious fish dish.
